Request for Proposal – 2024 Annual Report
1. OVERVIEW
The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) is accepting proposals for the design elements of its 2024 Annual Report – print only. The selected provider will work closely with MPP’s communications team to produce the 2024 Annual Report, with activities beginning after selection at the beginning of January 2025. The selected provider will follow a deadline for production culminating in a print-ready product by the end of June 2025. However, please note the financial element of the report must be ready by 15 April 2025, and that a version of the full annual report must be made available for internal use by 1st May 2025.
2. ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION
2.1 About the Medicines Patent Pool:
MPP is a United Nations-backed public health organisation working to increase access to and facilitate the development of life-saving medicines for low- and middle-income countries. Through its innovative business model, MPP partners with civil society, governments, international organisations, industry, patient groups, and other stakeholders to prioritise and license needed medicines and pool intellectual property to encourage generic manufacture and the development of new formulations.
To date, MPP has signed agreements with 22 patent holders for 13 HIV antiretrovirals, one HIV technology platform, three hepatitis C direct-acting antivirals, a tuberculosis treatment, a cancer treatment, four long-acting technologies, a post-partum haemorrhage medicine, three oral antiviral treatments for COVID-19 and 16 COVID-19 technologies.
MPP was founded by Unitaid, which continues to be MPP’s main funder. MPP’s work on access to essential medicines is also funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Government of Canada and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). MPP’s activities in COVID-19 are undertaken with the financial support of the Japanese Government, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the German Agency for International Cooperation, and SDC.

3. DELIVERABLES
3.1 Overall guidance
– The selected provider is expected to give strategic and creative advice on how to present and organise content, following a theme along the lines of “Breaking new ground”.
– The selected provider is expected to produce a print version only.
– The overall design will have an optimistic ‘look and feel’ and focus on the diversity of the people we serve.
– the Annual Report will take inspiration from the branding of the 2023-2025 Strategy, as on the website
– The selected provider is expected to provide creative direction on photographs. MPP has a bank of photographs but some photos might need to be sourced and bought by the selected provider.
– The annual report page mock-up, draft, and final versions shall be delivered in a timely manner.
– Several infographics are required to be produced.
– Proofreading will be undertaken by MPP and corrections will be supplied to the provider to amend.

3.3 Print pdf version guidance
- The print pdf version of the annual report is expected to be an approximate maximum total of 80 pages, including the 4 pages of cover. NB: 1 page = 1 side (this is an estimate – it can be adjusted)
- See our 2023 Annual Report for reference.
- It is expected that the selected provider delivers the print-ready source files (InDesign file, fonts, photographs, illustrations) and reference PDF for print.
- For the proposal: Three design proposals of the cover and an interior spread (summary page and general page) shall be submitted by the provider.
4. CRITERIA
The proposal will be assessed according to the following criteria:
– Demonstrable clear understanding of the brief
– Creative interpretation of the key elements of the brief – Print pdf and digital
– Technical expertise
– Excellent command of English
– Outstanding attention to details
– Provision of clear timeline
– Value for money. Please note that the budget for this project should not exceed 20,000 CHF
– Good project management skills
